6 Apart's Chris Alden responds to Pownce Users

Comments

You have to read between the lines. The way I understand it is that Pownce wasn't making money and they couldn't get anyone to invest. Think about it. They gotta pay for offices, equipment, staff, car payments, electric bill, food and apartment rent in SF. It just didn't work out so 6A tossed them a bone, bought them out, and gave them jobs. 6A isn't going to keep a website alive if it isnt making money.
Am I the only one who wants to know if that is ACTUALLY shit on the plate?
On a business side, Mike and Leah did a successfull tool to promote themself. Pownce would have been a great service if they could make money out of it. Sadly not. However, I think Pownce served at a nice promotion example of what the developpers can achive. And today, I'm saying this is a success as they get a "regular" job in a bigger company. IN that way, I'm glad they found a job.

On the user side, Mike, Leah, Daniel and the others built more than just a website. They had created a community of people. And today everybody knows that a community of worth money. And this is why it's sad, it looks like the developers just forget about it, and 6A also doesn't care. ON the business side, leaving users is not a big deal, as &A already has one. But on the other side, Users how inverst themself i the project just get disgusted to see that they diid "all what they did" for nothing.

And if you read careffully between the line, it shines that Leah and Mike found a job, Pownce wasn't in the deal at all....
