Hehe, your description of "Zoomies" is exactly how my little dog acts :) She's a 2 year-old half mini Doberman and half mini Maltese. She runs so fast but its like her back end is trying to overcome her front - too funny!

adorable!!!

I think it is a min-pin trait its quite funny and cute at the same time :) you should share a picture of your little one, she sounds like a cutie

Well she'd have to stay still for a second - I have this one, but as you can see she was in and out of it so quick! I love her, she's so full of life!
heheheh, so cute! She definately has the minpin personality. It's like 75% of the pictures I take of cleo are blurs as well.

She sounds like a great dog =)
oh she is, I don't know what I would do without her.
All those people that think animals don't have much of a personality haven't been around enough animals

Yes, It really bugs me when people try to discount animals feelings. "It's just a dog", they say. No, it's not just a dog, it's a living animal with feelings, emotions, love to give, heartache to over come,

I still can't believe that some people think that Animals don't dream. Of course they do. I honestly believe that understanding and befriending animals makes us better humans. We can learn a lot from our dogs.

How they stuff so much personality into a little dog I will never know.

I was watching a documentary about dogs, which especially noted how many of the "lap dog" breeds eventually came about. The main thing that I learned is that owners should take note of the reasons for which the dogs were bred. What might seem like odd traits are usually demonstrative of the jobs they were bred for. For example, Jack Russell terriers were bred to destroy rats in barns-- so if a Jack Russell is destroying your throw pillows...

The other thing that was pointed out was that small dogs still have the energy and demeanor of the larger breeds they came from. Big dogs stuffed into little packages, indeed.
We can learn a lot from all our pets. Even rodents have personality

Thats very interesting. I've read a few books on the miniature pinscher and the breed is actually older than the doberman pinscher, before the germans established the miniature pinscher breed standard the breed was used in medievel times to be ratters, watch dogs and companions to the royal women in the castle.

Later Germans called them Pinschers, meaning to pinch, which is really what they do. She loves to pinch the lizards out on the pool deck, wether she intends to kill them or not I have no idea lol. Once she brought me an insect that she killed, set it down at my feet. I gave her a treat.

She plays with her toys the same way, Pinching them, then shaking them.

I tease her and always ask her Did you do your job today? The other part of the day she watches out the window for anything that moves. lol.

She is very good around the house, doesn't chew on or destroy anything. She does have a crate of toys, probably more that some kids have lol.

The other weird thing she does is when out on walks she loves to track down squirell scents. when she has found the source of the scent she points her nose in that direction and lifts up her right front paw. I don't get it but its something I've seen other min-pins do as well.

Sounds like a hunting trait. Maybe it was part of their job as ratters; there's got to be information about it somewhere.
Thanks I'm going to look this up and see what I can find.
