Pierre Bézier does not approve of Fireworks.
Recently I had to explain why Fireworks is not an adequate tool for vector graphics. As I was thinking about the whole thing I thought I wonder why Pierre would think of Fireworks. He'd spit on it. It doesn't create true vector bezier curves it cheats and it lies to you. Why does it do this, because it can.
Fireworks was created as a hybrid program for web designers and developers who didn't need a tool that calculated large math equations. It wasn't a vector program but more of a raster program that included the ability to be able to make bezier curves and vector lines. The problem isn't with the tool itself but how it renders it. Fireworks assumes that for a web developer their end output is raster. So fireworks goes ahead and rasterizes your vectors for you. Sure it looks okay, a trained eye can see the difference. They default you to a 1 pixel soft brush try a 1 pixel hardline and you will see that the vector curves in fireworks do not interpolate the curve, instead it's based on pixels and looks very blocky.
Just in case your job tells you, you don't need illustrator you have fireworks, you can let them know Pierre Bezier do not approve.
